After the renovation of the Space Needle completed in 2018, our task as a marketing team was to create a new look for the entire holiday experience that would work together with the new rotating glass floor.
My coworker Chris Gabriel was responsible for designing the set, and I was responsible for the costume design.
The previous Santa before the renovation was known as “Space Santa”, who had a red costume and a retro look. After the renovation, the views from the glass floor of Mt. Rainier, the Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountains were even more majestic than before. I wanted this new Santa look to be integrated with the scenery around him, as the central and most delightful part.
I worked with Ronalee by Design to design and sew the new costumes just in time for the holidays.
