The Glass Ticket

In 2019, I worked on the creative to celebrate the completion of the renovation at the Space Needle. To commemorate it and the addition of all the new glass added, there was a celebration party thrown by the Wright family (the family that owns it). One of the family members had the idea to create glass tickets a for the invitations, and I was thrilled to make his idea come to life.

It started with one panel of leftover barrier glass from the renovation getting transported West Coast Waterjet to cut and etch. From there, I worked on every tiny detail from the design of the glass ticket, packaging, assembly and shipping.

One note of interest on the glass ticket: I used the existing General Admission ticket art (originally designed by Chris Gabriel) to create a two-dimensional effect on the front and back of the glass. I also customized two things. The first being the 18-digit barcode, which used three important dates, the date the renovation started, the date it ended, and the date of the party. I also worked with my manager to create custom copy, using a spin on some existing marketing copy we had to give it some extra sparkle.

This project was completed in about 6 weeks using all local vendors in the Seattle area.

And the party was fabulous. My brother-in-laws’ band played and everyone danced all night.
